Tammy Parker is the Founder and CEO of Short Ride Transportation LLC. She is a loving mother,

caregiver, longtime foster parent, and entrepreneur whose approach to business is deeply

influenced by the values of family, compassion, and service.

The name “Short Ride” is a special tribute to Tammy’s parents, whose last name is Short. While

Short Ride Transportation is Tammy’s own business and vision, the name honors the parents who

helped shape the caring and compassionate person she is today.

After Tammy and her two sisters, who are triplets, grew up and left home, her parents began

fostering children. Her mother became especially instrumental in creating a loving and

compassionate home for every child who entered their care. Watching her parents care for children

inspired all three sisters to eventually become foster parents themselves. More than 23 years ago,

Tammy followed their example and began her own journey as a foster parent.

Tammy is also a proud mother of three, including an adult daughter with an intellectual disability. Her

personal experience as a mother, caregiver, and foster parent has given her a firsthand

understanding of the patience, safety, compassion, and trust families need when placing the

transportation and well-being of a loved one in someone else’s hands.

For Tammy, Short Ride Transportation is more than a transportation company. It is a business she

created from her own vision, but the values behind it reflect a lifetime of caring for others. She

understands what it means to want your child, family member, or loved one in safe, dependable,

compassionate, and trustworthy hands.

Enterprise (SBE) through the Maryland Department of Social and Economic Mobility (DoSEM),
